    As mentioned above, lifespan is a major factor. Who would want to play a game that you can finish in one sitting?
    Storyline, characters and gameplay are also factors I consider.

    My two all-time favorite games are FFIX and Harvest Moon: BTN both for the PSX. I like them because both of them have side quests that make the game more interesting. The storyline for FFIX is well made, with the twists, plots and how it ties in with the gameplay. As for HM, you get to make your own life story.

    Graphics are a nice addition to any game but, contrary to what some developers believe, if the gameplay and the storyline aren't that good, then the game won't be as good even if it has great eye candy.

    It depends, since there are a lot of factors that could come into play.
    I could compare that to Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSX and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War for the PSP. The remake was slightly better than the original because the translation is better compared to the previous one (Black Mage sounds way better than Wizard, imo). Also, its still pretty much the same game but with a few added goodies here and there.
