Messing Around
Posted 26 Jul 2010
So yesterday I was messing around in PS then the power went out, so I decided to give it another shot. I know I'm not getting any better, but I'm okay with that.
Ok so it looks like crap with this black background, go here instead >.> -

Pebbles
Posted 17 May 2010
Dota ports are easy
Pebbles

The elemental creatures of Newerth have long kept away from mortal struggles, seeking instead to heal the destruction left in their wake. In the current war, however, some elementals have taken arm against the daemons, and the huge and implacable Pebbles is one of them.
The death dealing machine port of the tiny hero we all know and love. The only noticeable difference is his third skill, which provides armor and shorter debuffs instead of a ministun.
Hero Overview
Attributes
Damage 61-67
Armor 0.26
Move speed 285
Attack type Melee (128)
Attack rate 0.59
Strength 24 (+3.0)
Agility 9 (+0.9)
Intelligence 14 (+1.6)
Skills
-Stalagmites
Pebbles summons forth an eruption of stalagmites at a target location, stunning and damaging all enemies in the area.
Action: Target Position
Target: Enemy units, Trees
Type: Magic
Level 1: 100 damage, stuns for 2 seconds.
Level 2: 180 damage, stuns for 2 seconds.
Level 3: 260 damage, stuns for 2 seconds.
Level 4: 300 damage, stuns for 2 seconds.
Mana Cost: 120
Cooldown: 20 seconds
AOE: 200
Extra: Units affected by Chuck take double damage
Lolrus Says: a crazy ass AOE stun. Truth be told there isn't anything remarkable about this skill...by itself
Chuck
Pebbles throws a nearby unit to target location, damaging it and all enemies in an area around where it lands.
Action: Target Entity
Target- All units
Type- Magic
Level 1: Deals 75 damage to enemy units in the radius, and an additional 15 to thrown unit
Level 2: Deals 150 damage to enemy units in the radius, and an additional 30 to thrown unit
Level 3: Deals 225 damage to enemy units in the radius, and an additional 45 to thrown unit
Level 4: Deals 300 damage to enemy units in the radius, and an additional 61 to thrown unit
Mana: 120
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Extra: Damages buildings for 33% of the damage
Lolrus Says: This is what makes Pebbles' combo so deadly. Landing a Stalagmite+chuck combo on an enemy with both maxed deals 960 damage (before reduction), and with his ultimate that only gets better. That's some sick damage.
-Slab Skin
Grants bonus armor and reduces the duration of debuffs.
Action: Passive
Level 1: +2 Armor. Reduces debuff duration by 10%.
Level 2: +4 Armor. Reduces debuff duration by 20%.
Level 3: +6 Armor. Reduces debuff duration by 30%.
Level 4: +8 Armor. Reduces debuff duration by 40%.
Lolrus Says: A handy late game passive that helps you take more damage, but it is vastly overshadowed by the two power nukes.
Makes Pebbles grow larger, increasing attack damage, move speed, adding to the power of his other skills, yet greatly slowing his attack speed.
Action: Passive
Level 1: +5 MS, -20 Attack Speed, +40 Base Damage, Increases Stalagmites cast range by 40, Chucked units take +35% damage
Level 2: +10 MS, -35 Attack Speed, +80 Base Damage, Increases Stalagmites cast range by 100, Chucked units take +50% damage
Level 3: +15 MS, -50 Attack Speed, +120 Base Damage, Increases Stalagmites cast range by 150, Chucked units take +65% damage
Lolrus Says: Them there's a lot of stuff. You take a hit to your already slow attack speed in exchange for a ton of base damage, but it also makes your other skills a lot better. Still overshadowed by the other two power skills, but this definitely plays its part.
Btw this makes you a lot larger, as the name would suggest, so be careful about taking hits.
Skill Build:
Level 1: Stalagmites
Level 2: Chuck
Level 3: Stalagmites
Level 4: Chuck
Level 5: Stalagmites
Level 6: Chuck
Level 7: Stalagmites (max)
Level 8: Chuck (max)
Level 9: Slab Skin
Level 10: Enlarge
Level 11: Enlarge
Level 12: Slab Skin
Level 13: Slab Skin
Level 14: Slab Skin (max)
Level 15: stats
Level 16: Enlarge (max)
Level 17-25: Stats
Explanation:
Your two nukes MUST be maxed asap. They are what make you deadly, and if you skip them then you are hopeless.
When to get Slab skin/enlarge is debatable. I personally think the debuff reduction is extremely useful against the likes of Demented Shaman and Blood Hunter, so I like to get it rather early. Enlarge is delayed until lvl 10 because the leap of two levels is a lot more noticeable than one, and your other two spells are just a lot more important than a double edged sword.
Early Game:

The boots of choice is Ghost Marchers because they give you a lot of mobility which is very very useful. Also, between bottle and power supply you should have enough mana to kill when needed.
Early game Pebbles is an extremely deadly hero. You have two very potent nukes, and although you have a low mana pool, just a stalagmite can mean getting a kill with a good lane partner. Somebody like Glacius is just perfect for both setting up your stun, and for the mana aura. Use both spells when you can get a kill (which should be often if you are using both) and be careful about using only one, I recommend doing so only if you have a capable ally present.
Mid Game:

Portal Key means you don't have to walk up to somebody to combo them, making you that much more deadly. The element of surprise makes you a great gank initiator, and removes lots of the guesswork of lurking. You really don't need anything else for the rest of the game.
Mid game you should gank. Gank hard, gank fast, gank often. Your two spells and a few hits should be enough to kill almost any hero, add in another allied hero and you are bound to get a kill. Be careful of the warded river, as that can cost you many a kill. When ganking, always go stalagmite->chuck, it maximizes the damage.
Always remember to carry a homecoming stone; they will save your ass and maybe even save your ally's ass.
Late Game:

You don't need anything else really
Late game you still use your spells, but do not expect to get as many kills from them. You are mostly going to be taking hits after sending out your spell damage, so be wary of that.
Other Items:
Highly Recommended
Moderately Recommended
Recommended against
- Ring of Sorcery
A viable replacement for bottle and/or power supply. This gives you tons of mana to both you and your allies. However, getting it is expensive, and it is a little harder to manage your HP with this item. It is still a good replacement though.
- Behemoth Heart
An excellent extension item late game to tank.
- Plated Greaves
A viable substitution for Ghost Marchers. The armor really helps you to survive easier early game, however you lose the mobility in between this and your Portal Key.
- Demonic Breast Plate
Lots of armor, lots of attack speed. This item gives a lot but at a steep price tag. It is a fantastic survivability item, and it also makes your 200 damage attacks hit more often. However, it is only moderately recommended because there is such a better item to get.
- FrostField Plate
Exactly what you need; intelligence for easier spell management, and armor for survivability. This item is, in my opinon, much better that Breast Plate because of the int it gives, but also for the huge AOE slow which compliments your mid-late nuking power.
Cranking them out. You know the drill. -
